May 2022 Newsletter

Welcome to May, this month is a major one for the music industry, with the Eurovision on everyone’s screen, music is brought forward to unite countries and share talent. Let’s hope that Sam Ryder is enjoying himself this month! He was a credit to the United Kingdom. All of the artists who performed in Eurovision were amazing and deserve to represent their country.

Ukraine has won the 66th Eurovision song contest, which was held on Saturday evening in Turin, Italy.
As many predicted coming into this politically charged Eurovision final, held in Turin, Italy, Ukraine were the big winners as the international public seized the chance to show their support following Russia’s invasion. An enormous 439 points from the public vote put Ukraine well clear of their rivals, turning a tense finish to the competition into a walkover.
But Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra were deserving winners – not just as brave representatives of their country, but also supplying a clever mix of folk music and hip-hop with an energetic performance. It might not have been the best musically on the night, but it was certainly the right winner. Sometimes, this madcap competition can have a truly sincere, and important, moment.
The winning song, which mixes rap with elements of Ukrainian folk music, was originally written in honour of the group’s mothers. The group have subsequently rededicated it to all matriarchs in Ukraine, as lines such as “I’ll always find my way home, even if all roads are destroyed” found new resonance. The six men who make up the group had to receive special permits to leave Ukraine and travel to Italy during the war.

Where Do They Start?
How are your listeners finding you and your music? Are you popping up in playlists that they listen to, or is your social media game strong enough to pull in curious ears?
that is the first step complete, getting your work in front of new faces, now the next step is a little more tricky: How do I make them want more? How do I hook them?
Make Them Want More!
When your track is included in a playlist is your track standing out? Would anyone stop the mix, to make note of who is playing ( then hopefully click on your profile ).

Keep You Fans Interested
With so many distracting apps, shows and news, staying on your fans’ minds can be difficult. Here are three ways to improve your chances and keep those fans around and interested in you and your music.

Tease them 😘
Yes, you can put all your release information upfront... but where’s the fun in that? Make your fans feel like detectives, drop some hints!
In the build-up to your release consider teasing the album artwork, or reveal the title of your new album one letter at a time! Whatever you do, make it interesting. Make them WANT more! Then when your release hits it will be worth the wait!

Interact directly!
Connecting with your fans directly can help build personal connections that will be sure to stick around! Even something as simple as Liking their comments or even replying. If fans know that you read their comments they will be far more likely to leave them again. Maybe your fans have tagged you in their story, why not share the story too? Listen to your fans feedback and build those connections.

Put in the effort!
Just posting your album art and a simple “stream my music now” on Instagram isn’t going to cut it. You should be thinking about how your branding and content reflect your attitude toward your fans. Make a personal video explaining the theme of the release, or commission an animated promotion video! Show that you care about your image and that YOU are excited about your music too!
